| Beschrijving keerzijde | A naval prow with elaborate superstructure advancing to the right, rendered in careful relief consistent with Augustan commemorative imagery celebrating the victory at Actium. A stylized apotropaic eye is prominently displayed on the prow's hull, a traditional decorative and protective device on ancient Mediterranean warships. Above the prow, a circular medallion or boss encloses what appears to be a ram's head, possibly referencing the colony's emblem or a naval trophy. The field is otherwise unadorned, and no legend is present on this side, the iconographic program alone conveying the martial and naval themes of the early Augustan colonization of Arausio. |
