Obverse description Confronted bare heads of Augustus, facing left, and Agrippa, facing right, jugate or vis-à-vis in the field. The portrait of Augustus is rendered in the idealized Hellenistic manner with fine hair locks swept across the brow, while Agrippa's features reflect his characteristic stern military bearing. The abbreviated Latin legend IMP DIVI F appears in the lower field, identifying Augustus as Imperator and son of the Divus (Julius Caesar). The flan is broad and irregular, consistent with early colonial bronze coinage of the Augustan period.
