| 背面描述 | Full-length figure of an armoured Swiss soldier — the Bernese bannerman — standing facing, wearing a plumed morion helmet and period military dress. He holds a halberd upright in his right hand and a fasces-like battle axe in his left, with a drum at his side. The legend DEVS PROVIDEBIT is inscribed in the field to either side of the figure, divided left and right. The date 1793 appears in the exergue below the figure, with a finely milled border encircling the design. |

Bern's duplone series was a high-prestige civic coinage issued under the authority of the patrician oligarchy that governed the city-canton until the French invasion of 1798 swept away the old order entirely. This 1793 piece was struck just five years before that rupture, making late-dated Bernese duplones effectively terminal issues — the mint would not operate under the same authority again.
The HMZ 2-213c designation distinguishes this among several obverse and reverse die pairings documented for the type.
