| Reverse description | The reverse presents two confronted lions rampant facing one another at center, each supporting a crown and imperial regalia — one holding a scepter, the other a sword — symbolizing the dual Vicariate authority claimed by Friedrich August I following the death of Emperor Joseph I in 1711. Above the lions, arranged in two lines, is the legend FRID: AUG: / REX ELECTOR; below the lions, continuing in four lines, reads & / VICARIUS / POST MORT: IOSE: / IMPERAT: / MDCCXI:, the Roman numeral date confirming the year of issue. The composition is bold and heraldically precise, executed in the high Baroque style characteristic of Dresden Mint coinage of this period. The reeded border frames the design cleanly. |
