Reverse description The city arms of Toruń — a fortified gateway with towers displayed on an oval shield — occupy the central field, supported by a winged angel figure rising above the shield with outstretched wings. The mintmaster's initials I-I appear in the lower field flanking the base of the shield. The circumferential legend MONETA AVR CIVIT THORVNENSIS is interrupted by the date 1638 in the upper left field. The entire design is contained within an inner beaded border and an outer rope-pattern rim, consistent with the hammered coinage tradition of the Toruń municipal mint.
