| Obverse description | Bare-headed right-facing effigy of King Stanisław August Poniatowski, his hair dressed in the late Baroque fashion with curled locks and a queue, rendered in high relief with fine portraiture typical of Holzhaeusser's engraving style. The bust is truncated at the shoulder and occupies the central field. A circular Latin legend runs along the periphery reading STANISLAUS AUG D G REX POL M D L, identifying the king as ruler of Poland and Grand Duke of Lithuania by the grace of God. |

| Reverse description | Central field occupied entirely by a five-line Latin inscription reading AUREUS / NUMMUS / POLONIAE / ANNO / 1788, meaning 'Gold Coin of Poland, in the year 1788', framed within a wreath of olive branches tied at the base with a ribbon bow. The mint-master's initials E.B. appear below the wreath knot at the bottom of the field, identifying the responsible mint official. The overall composition is clean and typographic, without figurative imagery, characteristic of the Poniatowski ducat series. |
