| Obverse description | Right-facing crowned bust of John II Casimir Vasa, King of Poland and Sweden, with long flowing hair, clad in armour partially covered by a draped mantle with fur trim, the royal crown prominently rendered above. The engraver's initials T·L·B appear below the truncation, attributing the work to Thomas Leopold Berger. The circular Latin legend reads IO·CAS·D·G·POL·&·SVE·REX, identifying the ruler by name and royal title. The portrait is executed in a bold, high-relief hammered style characteristic of mid-17th-century Polish coinage. A beaded inner border frames the design. |
