| Obverse description | Right-facing armored and draped bust of King Stefan Batory, crowned and bearded, wearing an ornate ruffled collar and mantle with decorative clasp, occupying the majority of the coin's field. The effigy is rendered in high relief in the late Renaissance hammered style characteristic of the Gdańsk mint. The circular Latin legend runs along the beaded inner border, reading STEPHANVS D G REX POL D PRVS, identifying the king as Stephen, by the grace of God King of Poland and Lord of Prussia. |
