| Beschrijving keerzijde | Central device depicts the crowned arms of West Friesland — a shield bearing three rampant lions passant in pale — surmounted by a fleur-de-lis crown, all in high relief. The shield is set within a beaded inner border, around which the circular legend reads DEVS· FORTI· ET· SP· NOS, meaning 'The Lord is Our Strength and Hope.' The reverse is struck on the same thick square planchet with rounded corners, confirming the piedfort nature of this piece, and the bold die engraving reflects the provincial workshop style of Enkhuizen in the mid-17th century. |
