Duit - Floris of Palland

Floris of Palland acquired Culemborg through marriage into the van Culemborg line and ruled the county during a period when the Dutch Revolt had thoroughly disrupted normal financial administration across the Guelders region. Small copper duits issued by minor lordships like Culemborg filled genuine gaps left by Spanish monetary disruption, though their legal standing was perpetually contested by the States General. The 1590–1591 window for this issue aligns with the county's final years of meaningful autonomous minting before provincial consolidation tightened control over small-denomination coinage.
