| Obverse description | Central field bears the Latin inscription SST / INSVLA arranged in three lines, referring to Stevensweert as an island lordship ('SST' abbreviating 'Stevensweert', 'INSVLA' denoting 'island' in Latin). The lettering is rendered in bold, raised Roman capitals of a crude provincial style. The coin is struck on an irregular flan with a beaded or rope-like border encircling the inscription. The overall execution is characteristic of small feudal coinage of the early seventeenth-century Low Countries. |
