(Translation: Duchy of Gelderland)
Reverse description The crowned arms of Gelderland — a shield bearing a rampant lion — displayed at center within a decorative polylobe frame, itself enclosed by a beaded inner circle. The heraldic shield is rendered in the bold, somewhat crude style characteristic of hammered provincial copper coinage. A partial circular legend surrounds the polylobe, reading IN DEO SPES NOSTRA (In God is our hope), with ornamental stops separating the words.
