Obverse description Within a beaded inner circle, an armored knight on a charging horse advances to the right, brandishing a drawn sword in his raised right hand. Beneath the horse, the crowned arms of Holland appear in the field. The equestrian figure is rendered in the bold, martial style characteristic of Dutch Republic silver coinage of the late seventeenth century. The peripheral legend in Latin runs along the upper and lower margins of the square klippe flan.
