Reverse description The crowned quartered arms of Spain — incorporating the quarterings of Castile, León, Aragón, and Granada with the escutcheon of the Bourbons of Anjou at centre — displayed on an elaborate heraldic shield, supported on either side by rampant lions facing inward. The royal crown surmounts the shield, and elaborate mantling or decorative foliage fills the lower field. The date 1703 is divided across the upper field flanking the crown, and the circular Latin legend BURGUND • DUX • BRABAN • Zc, interrupted by the date, runs along the periphery within a toothed border. The composition is richly detailed, befitting the piedfort format.
