| Obverse description | Within a beaded inner circle, a fully armored knight on horseback charges to the right, raising a drawn sword in his right hand. The horse is depicted in a rearing or galloping posture, rendered in bold relief. Below the horse, the crowned arms of Holland appear in the field. The composition reflects the martial iconography characteristic of Dutch Republic provincial coinage of the seventeenth century. A Latin legend encircles the design between the inner circle and the coin's rim. |
