Reverse description The reverse displays a large quartered heraldic shield of Aragon-Sicily, occupying the majority of the central field within a beaded inner circle. The coat of arms is divided into four quarters alternating between the pales of Aragon (vertical stripes) and the cross of Jerusalem flanked by fleurs-de-lis, representing the dynastic claims of the Crown of Aragon. The shield is rendered in high relief in the bold Gothic heraldic style characteristic of fifteenth-century Neapolitan coinage. The surrounding Latin legend, running between the inner beaded circle and the hammered outer rim, proclaims Alfonso's royal titles across Aragon and the two Sicilies.
