Obverse description Central depiction of the gateway of Genoa (castello) rendered within a polylobed frame, each interior point of the lobe decorated with a crosslet, the whole enclosed by a beaded inner circle. The gateway serves as the traditional civic emblem of the Republic of Genoa and is presented in a flat, stylized manner characteristic of medieval Italian hammered coinage. The circumferential legend, in Latin uncial script, runs between the beaded circle and the coin's irregular outer edge, naming Prospero Adorno as Governor alongside the Twelve Captains of the People of Genoa.
