Obverse description Right-facing laureate and armoured bust of Tsar Peter I (Peter the Great) occupying the central field, rendered in high relief with finely detailed plate armour and a flowing laurel wreath in his hair. The truncation of the bust is visible at the lower centre of the coin. A Cyrillic legend reading the ruler's name and patronymic is distributed around the periphery, divided by the effigy. The portrait is boldly struck and characteristic of the Western European artistic influence adopted under Peter's reign.
