| 表面の説明 | Two elaborate heraldic shields displayed side by side in the centre of the field, surmounted by a pontifical mitre flanked by a crozier and a sword, with two orbs at the upper flanks. The left shield bears the arms of Abbot Gerold II von Zurlauben, and the right shield displays the arms of the Abbey of Rheinau. The composition is framed by a beaded border, with the date (1723) inscribed in the lower exergue area. The surrounding legend, rendered in raised Roman capitals, records the abbot's name, title, age, and years of reign. |

| 裏面の説明 | Full-length standing figure of Saint Fintan of Rheinau, depicted in monastic habit with nimbus, holding a tall crozier in his left hand and presenting a crowned book or reliquary on a tray in his right hand. Below the saint, two heraldic shields are displayed side by side: the left bearing a rampant lion, the right bearing a walking figure, representing the arms associated with the abbey's patron and foundation. The field is plain and the composition is enclosed within a beaded border. The surrounding legend in raised Roman capitals identifies the saint as patron prince of Leinster and monk of Rheinau. |

Rheinau Abbey, a Benedictine house on a Rhine island near Schaffhausen, held mint rights that it exercised sporadically — more as an expression of abbatial prestige than any practical monetary need. This piece is an off-metal strike of the 1723 ducat type, produced in silver rather than gold, almost certainly as a presentation piece during the abbacy of Gerold II von Zurlauben. Such strikings were occasionally distributed to benefactors, visiting dignitaries, or retained in the abbey's own treasury.
The HMZ reference confirms its status as a recognized variant, not a later fabrication.
