| Obverse description | Draped bust of Empress Elizaveta Petrovna facing right, her hair elaborately coiffed and adorned with a crown, wearing a pearl drop earring and a beaded necklace, with the mantle falling over her left shoulder in a flowing baroque style. The effigy is rendered in high relief with fine detail to the facial features and garments. A Cyrillic legend curves around the upper periphery, reading Б·М·ЕЛИСАВЕТЪ·I·IМПЕРАТРИЦА, meaning 'By the Grace of God, Elizaveta I, Empress.' The field surrounding the portrait is plain and unadorned, allowing the bust to dominate the composition. |
