The two figures are separated by the staff of the gonfalone, which bisects the field vertically. The scene closely follows the Venetian ducat prototype, adapted for the Gattilusio lordship. A circular Latin legend in uncial characters surrounds the composition, naming the issuer. |

Nine six-pointed stars are distributed around the figure within the mandorla, with a single pellet visible between his feet. A circular Latin legend in uncial characters surrounds the mandorla, reproducing the standard Venetian ducat inscription invoking Christ as ruler of this ducat. |
