Reverse description Central device consisting of the Savoyard shield — charged with the white cross of Savoy on a red field — surmounted by the dynastic Savoy knot, the whole dividing the House of Savoy's devotional motto rendered in Gothic lettering. The shield and knot are enclosed within an elaborate double quadrilobate frame ornamented with beaded borders, creating a rich decorative surround in the late Gothic manner. The field between the lobes contains additional ornamental elements, and the legend runs continuously around the outer border beginning with a cross patée.
