Obverse description The obverse bears no effigy but instead presents a six-line Latin inscription filling the field, reading FRIDERICI CHRISTIANI / REG POL EL SAX PRINC / ET / ANTONIAE BAVARIAE / CONNUBIUM / MDCCXLVII, commemorating the marriage of Friedrich Christian, Electoral Prince of Saxony and Poland, to Maria Antonia of Bavaria in 1747. The lettering is rendered in bold Roman capitals of varying size for emphasis. The coin is bordered by a finely tooled inner dentilated rim characteristic of Dresden mint workmanship of the period.
