| Beschrijving voorzijde | The obverse bears a multi-line Latin inscription filling the entire field, commemorating the election of Augustus II as King of Poland. At the top center, a large royal crown is displayed flanked by the initials D∙G∙ (Dei Gratia). Below the crown, the bold raised legend reads F∙A∙E∙S∙ / EL:IN REG: / POLONIARUM / D∙17/27 IUN: / Ao.1697, referencing the dual-calendar date of 17/27 June 1697, the day of his election. The lettering is rendered in a bold, baroque serif style characteristic of Dresden die-work of the period. The coin's edge is finely reeded, consistent with milled coinage production at the Dresden mint. |

| Beschrijving keerzijde | The reverse depicts a dynamic equestrian portrait of Augustus II (Frederick Augustus I, Elector of Saxony) in full armor, mounted on a rearing horse facing right. The ruler is shown wearing a plumed helmet and cuirass, brandishing a baton of command in his raised right hand in the manner of a Roman imperator. The horse is richly caparisoned with elaborate trappings, and its mane and tail flow dramatically, conveying movement and martial power. The composition fills the entire field with no peripheral legend, concentrating the viewer's attention entirely on the heroic effigy. A small engraver's or mintmaster's mark appears in the lower exergue area below the horse's hooves. |
