| Obverse description | Saint Mark, nimbate and robed, stands at left facing right, extending the banner of the Order toward the Grand Master Anthony Fluvian, who kneels before him in a posture of submission and investiture. The scene closely follows the iconographic tradition of the Venetian ducat, reflecting the Order's commercial and cultural ties to Venice. The figures are rendered in the flat, stylized Gothic manner typical of hammered medieval gold coinage. The surrounding circular legend in uncial Latin identifies the Grand Master and invokes the patronage of Saint Mark of Venice. |
