Reverse description The reverse displays a four-line Latin inscription in bold raised lettering within an ornate cartouche framed by elaborate acanthus and floral scrollwork. At the apex of the wreath, a cherub's head with spread wings serves as a decorative crown to the composition. The date 1684 appears in the lower exergual area beneath the inscription, with the entire design enclosed within a milled border. The legend reads DUCATUS NOVUS REIPUBLICÆ TIGURINÆ, meaning New Ducat of the Republic of Zürich.
