| Obverse description | Bare-headed and laureate bust of Gordian III facing right, rendered in finely struck provincial style with naturalistic portraiture. The emperor's youthful effigy is depicted with a laurel wreath binding the hair, the head bare at the neck. The encircling Greek legend reads ΑΥ Κ Μ ΑΝΤ ΓΟΡΔΙΑΝΟC, identifying the emperor by his imperial titulature. The portrait occupies the full field of the flan, with the legend running clockwise around the periphery. |
