| Beschrijving keerzijde | Central fire altar of the Zoroastrian tradition, flanked symmetrically by two stylized priestly attendants rendered in the standard Sasanian manner. In the upper field to the left, a five-pointed star is present; in the upper field to the right, a crescent symbol appears, both being common astral devices on late Sasanian coinage. In the right field, the mint signature GD (identifying the mint of Madinat Jayy, modern Isfahan) is inscribed in Pahlavi script; in the left field, the regnal year is recorded in Pahlavi numerals. The reverse composition adheres closely to the canonical Sasanian fire-altar type established from the third century AD onward. |
