Dyrrachion's magistrate-series drachms are among the better-documented provincial issues of the late Roman Republican period, with the dual-name system — one name identifying a local magistrate, the other a secondary official — recorded systematically by Ceka. The pairing of Xenon and Purba places this piece within a sequence that can be roughly ordered by die linkage studies, though absolute chronology within the 80–55 BC window remains contested. Dyrrachion's mint was producing heavily during this period in part because the city functioned as Rome's primary Adriatic landing point, making its coinage practically essential for troop payments and supply logistics along the Via Egnatia.
