Drachm - Visvasena

Visvasena ruled as a Western Satrap in the early fourth century, part of the Kardamaka dynasty that had maintained semi-independent control over Gujarat and Malwa for generations despite Kushana pressure from the north. His coinage follows the debased silver tradition of the late Satraps, a progressive reduction in fineness that had been underway since the mid-second century — by this period the fabric is noticeably thinner and the silver quality markedly inferior to earlier issues in the series.
