Obverse description Royal family portrait in low relief depicting Varhran II (Bahram II) accompanied by the queen and the heir apparent. The king faces right wearing a distinctive winged globe crown; the queen, also facing right, bears a headdress surmounted by a bovine or boar-head crown. Interposed before the royal pair, the crown prince is depicted wearing a crown adorned with the forepart of a raptor, interpreted as an eagle-crown. The three effigies are rendered in the characteristically stylised Sasanian court idiom, with bold facial features and elaborate regalia emphasising dynastic legitimacy.
