Obverse description Struck in the Arab-Sasanian tradition, the obverse presents a stylized bust of the Sasanian king in right profile, rendered in the manner inherited from late Sasanian coinage. The effigy is shown wearing an elaborate winged crown surmounted by a crescent and globe, with ribbons or streamers extending to either side. Concentric dotted border rings frame the central device, with small annulets or star motifs in the cardinal margins of the field. Pahlavi inscriptions appear in the inner margin, recording the mint abbreviation and regnal year, while the Arabic Basmala formula appears in the field.
