Obverse description Bare or laureate head of Tiberius facing left, rendered in the classical portraiture style typical of early Imperial provincial coinage. The effigy displays the emperor's characteristic features with a slightly idealized treatment. A Greek legend surrounds the portrait in the field, reading ΤΙ ΚΑΙ ϹΕΒΑϹΤΩ ΚΡΗ ΚΥ, identifying Tiberius as Augustus. The flan is irregular, consistent with hammered provincial silver issues of Crete under the Julio-Claudian dynasty.
