| Obverse description | Radiate facing head of Helios, turned slightly to the right, rendered in high relief with deeply modelled facial features characteristic of Hellenistic craftsmanship. The deity's hair radiates outward in thick, undulating waves that fill the field, conveying the solar attributes of the god. The effigy is centrally placed and occupies nearly the entire flan, with no legend or inscription on the obverse. The modelling of the eyes, nose, and lips reflects the refined artistic style associated with Rhodian mint production of the early second century BC. |
