| Reverse description | Highly stylised Celtic horse prancing to left, rendered in the abstract La Tène manner with exaggerated haunches, elongated legs, and a schematically defined body. A small bird, depicted in profile, is positioned above and to the left of the horse's head, serving as a secondary device characteristic of this regional coinage type. Scattered pellets and linear elements appear in the field. The composition fills the flan, with no inscriptions present. |

The Boii were expelled from their Bohemian homeland by the Marcomanni around 58 BC, scattering remnant populations into the middle Danube basin. The Simmering and Réte types belong to a late, regionally fragmented phase of Boian coinage — struck after that dispersal, when unified tribal authority had largely collapsed and small groups were producing silver on increasingly reduced and idiosyncratic flans. The progressive weight reduction visible across this series reflects not a formal monetary policy but the practical debasement that accompanies political disintegration.
