Obverse description Bust of Shapur II facing right, wearing the distinctive korymbos (hair gathered in a large orb) surmounted by an elaborate mural crown with crenellations and a dotted globe at the apex. The king's flowing curled locks fall to the shoulders, and his garment is adorned with beaded details at the collar and shoulder. Inscriptional Pahlavi legends appear in the field to the left and right of the royal effigy. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded border.

Reverse description A stepped Zoroastrian fire altar at centre, with flames rising from the altar top and a royal bust emerging from the flames. Two armed attendants, each wearing a mural crown and holding a drawn sword upright, stand flanking the altar in a formal, symmetrical composition. Inscriptional Pahlavi legends are placed in the fields between and beside the attendant figures. The whole scene is contained within a beaded border.
