Obverse description Bust of Shapur II facing right, wearing his distinctive mural crown surmounted by a large globular crenellated element and a korymbos (hair bundle enclosed in a fabric globe), with pearl necklace and beaded torque visible at the truncation. The king is depicted in elaborate royal regalia including a decorated robe with beaded ornamentation. A Pahlavi inscription runs within the beaded border encircling the effigy, giving the royal titulature of the Mazda-worshipping divine Shapur, King of Kings of Iran and non-Iran, whose lineage is from the gods.
