A ribbon or diadem is associated with the altar, emphasizing its sacred royal character. Two attendants flank the altar, each standing in profile facing inward and wearing a mural crown with korymbos, serving as royal guardians of the Zoroastrian sacred flame. The composition is symmetrical and hieratic, consistent with the standard Sasanian fire altar reverse type established under early Shapur II issues. |
