Obverse description Draped bust of Shapur II facing right, wearing a distinctive crenellated mural crown surmounted by a large korymbos (hair globe encased in a spherical cover) and adorned with a beaded diadem. The king's elaborate jewelry, including a beaded necklace and earrings, is rendered in fine detail, while his garment features incised ribbing at the shoulder. A Middle Persian (Pahlavi) legend runs along the right-hand field within a beaded inner border.
