Obverse description Royal bust of Shapur II facing right, displaying a mural crown surmounted by a korymbos (hair-bundle globus) encircled by an inner ribbon, with ornate flowing ribbons flanking the pointed beard. Two Pahlavi mint letters appear at the neck, identifying the issuing mint (e.g., GN for Gundishapur or GO for Gorgan). The effigy is rendered in the characteristic Sasanian high-relief hammered style, with detailed drapery at the shoulders. The legend in Inscriptional Pahlavi script encircles the bust within the field.
