Obverse description Laureate head of Zeus facing right, rendered in high relief with finely detailed curling hair and full beard, executed in the bold Hellenistic engraving style characteristic of the early Seleucid mint at Seleucia on the Tigris. The strongly modelled features display an authoritative divine countenance with a prominent brow, aquiline nose, and deeply textured beard composed of rounded locks. A beaded border frames the lower portion of the flan, while the irregular edge of the hammered planchet is visible at the periphery.
