Drachm - Sariakos

Sariakos remains one of the more obscure dynasts in the Pontic steppe tradition, known almost entirely through his coinage rather than any literary record. His drachms follow the weight standard of the late Attic series, suggesting commercial integration with Greek Black Sea trade networks rather than isolation from them. The precise political relationship between his kingdom and the contemporaneous Scythian pressures from the east — and the expanding reach of Pontus under Pharnakes I — remains unresolved in the scholarship.
