Obverse description Facing bust of Phraates III, depicted in a highly stylized frontal presentation characteristic of late Parthian portraiture. The king wears a diadem surmounted by a tiara adorned with a decorative crescent motif. Long, wavy hair falls to either side of the face, framing a full beard rendered with fine, curved engraving lines. The royal torso is draped in elaborate court dress decorated with beaded ornamentation and a central circular brooch at the collar. The portrait is enclosed within a beaded border.
