背面描述 A sea eagle (haliaeetos) standing to the left with wings spread wide, depicted in dynamic heraldic style, its talons firmly gripping the back of a dolphin also oriented to the left. The scene powerfully evokes Sinope's maritime identity and dominance over the Black Sea trade routes. The Greek magistrate's name ΠΑΣΙ appears in the upper right field, while the ethnic ΣΙΝΩ is inscribed in the lower exergual area, identifying the issuing city. The composition fills the flan with bold, deeply struck relief typical of Sinopean silver coinage of this period.

附加信息

Sinope dominated Black Sea trade for centuries, and its silver coinage was the commercial backbone of that dominance. The city controlled critical access routes between the Pontic interior and Aegean markets, and its drachms circulated as working currency among grain merchants, timber traders, and Greek colonists from the Crimea to the Bosphorus.

SNG BM Black Sea 1414 places this piece within a well-documented die sequence, though attributing individual specimens to specific decades within this sixty-year bracket remains difficult without die-link study.
