The attribution of this piece sits at the center of an ongoing scholarly dispute. Alram catalogued it under Pakor I, but Sunrise 615 reassigns the type to Pakor II — a revision driven largely by die-linkage studies and the sequence of royal titles appearing across the Persis series. The obverse symbol question is not trivial: its absence or presence has been used as a primary sorting criterion, and disagreement on that point explains why the same coin can appear under different rulers in different references.
Persis maintained a tenacious semi-autonomy under Parthian overlordship, continuing to strike its own silver long after most regional dynasties had been absorbed. These drachms circulated within a deliberately bounded geography.
