Oxathres I ruled as one of the frataraka successors in Persis — the region of modern Fars province in Iran — during a period when the Parthian empire nominally dominated but local dynasts retained enough autonomy to strike their own silver coinage. The frataraka and their successors were essentially Persian traditionalists, invoking Achaemenid memory at a time when Parthian overlordship made such statements quietly political.
Alram 587 is among the scarcer types in the Persis sequence. At 2.74g this example sits close to the expected drachm standard, though weight variation across the series is considerable enough that light specimens are rarely penalized by specialists.
