| Beschrijving voorzijde | Draped bust of Artemis facing right, her hair elaborately coiffed and bound with a laurel wreath, with loose tresses falling at the nape of the neck. A bow and quiver are visible behind her left shoulder, rendered in fine relief. The portrait is executed in the refined Hellenistic style characteristic of Pontic Greek coinage of the late third century BC. The field is plain, and the flan exhibits the characteristic irregular edge of a hammered ancient coin. |

She raises a torch or spear in her right hand and holds a bow in her left, her chiton billowing with the energy of the pose. The scene is executed with vigorous Hellenistic artistry, conveying motion and naturalism. The ethnic XEP (for Chersonesos) appears in the lower field, and the magistrate's name MENEΣΤΡΑΤΟΥ is inscribed in the right field. |
