| Descrizione del rovescio | Zeus Aëtophoros enthroned left on a backless stool-throne, his nude torso depicted in three-quarter view; he extends his right hand forward bearing an eagle with wings closed, while his left hand rests on a long upright sceptre. In the left field, the forepart of a lion advancing left appears above a monogram. Beneath the throne, either a head facing right wearing a Phrygian cap or a griffin's head facing right, distinguishing the two emission varieties. The Greek legend ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ appears in the right field. The composition follows the canonical Alexandrine reverse type as struck under Lysimachus at the mint of Abydus. |
