Obverse description Youthful head of Heracles facing right, wearing the lion skin headdress tied at the throat, the scalp rendered with fine detail showing the beast's mane and paws framing the face. The portrait displays the characteristic idealized Hellenistic style associated with Alexander III coinage, with strong facial features, a prominent nose, and slightly parted lips. The lion's skin knotted foreleg falls across the neck, and the treatment of the hair beneath is rendered with careful engraving. The flan shows typical irregular fabric of a hammered silver drachm of the period.
