The rose is surrounded by a border of large globules interspersed with six-pointed star ornaments, creating a decorative wreath-like arrangement. Flanking the rose in the inner field are the abbreviated ethnic and magistrate's name rendered in Greek characters, with ΛΕΩΝΙΔΑΣ identifying the eponymous magistrate responsible for the issue. The overall composition is bold and well-centred, characteristic of the late Rhodian plinthophoric series. |

Rhodian silver drachms of this period were struck under the shadow of Sulla's punitive settlement of 84 BC, which stripped Rhodes of its mainland Peraea territories as partial punishment for the island's complex positioning during the First Mithridatic War. The city retained its mint and continued producing silver at a high technical standard, but the political and economic footing had fundamentally shifted. Magistrate-signed issues like those catalogued under Ashton & Weiss 334–340 allow die-sequence studies that have helped scholars reconstruct the mint's output chronology across this compressed half-century.
